How To Use Strata Mail

The beauty of Strata Mail lies in its simplicity.  The online application is easy to use and understand, allowing you to utilise your Thomson Local business data lists to complete your customer mailings efficiently and focus your attention on other areas of your business.

The system operates using Microsoft Word mail merge technology to combine a data file and a Word document through a simple web interface.

To get started on Strata Mail and complete your mailshot, you will need the following two things:

  • Data file - this will include all of the names & addresses of the people that you wish to communicate with. This file is usually the data that you have just purchased from Thomson Local.
  • Mailshot document – this maybe a letter, flyer or a product brochure that you have created at an earlier date or you may choose to create something new. Strata Mail accepts mailshot documents in Microsoft Word format.

The cost of your direct mail will be calculated based on the preferences that you choose.  You can opt to print your mailshot in either black & white or colour and if you have more than one page you have the choice about whether to print it double or single sided.

Strata Mail operates via a second class or equivalent service, so you can expect your mailshot to be delivered usually within three working days. 

Once you have selected all your requirements, Strata Mail will provide a summary which details the format, printing method, postage date, number of records in the total job and the number of pages per record. 

Your job will not be processed fully until payment has been received.  Once this has been confirmed you can log onto Strata Mail to track the progress of your mailing.
